Driven by curiosity, Mary formed her earliest inspirations while wandering a university campus in a small Southern town. Given the freedom to explore the campus library, bookstore, and psychology department, she developed a foundational interest in human behavior, books, and art. This environment led to her formal training: Mary studied printmaking at Het Duvelhok in Tilburg, Netherlands, lived and sketched in Barcelona, and later earned a BFA from the University of North Texas. Her interest in books led her to graduate studies in library science, where she worked in the Preservation Lab rebinding and repairing books. To this day, volumes remain in circulation containing her secret drawings on the book boards beneath the cloth. After working outside the studio for a period, Mary has returned to a dedicated studio practice. Her current work consists primarily of painting on raw canvas and wood, inspired by her fascination with psychology, interiors, and natural textures. She lives and works in Atlanta, GA.
